I’m not gonna deny it, I absolutely love Maggi Noodles, however the last time I ate them, I was left feeling sluggish and passed out for two hours. It kinda makes you wonder what’s in them. Let’s face it, as good as Maggi Moodles taste, they’re not exactly made with the best ingredients. So here’s my attempt in making a delicious and slightly “healthier” version of Maggi Noodles using 3-ingredient organic ramen noodles and pav bhaji masala with basic spices. The result is scrumptious, mouthwatering, and will leave you wanting more. Just trust me on this one.
What are Pav Bhaji Maggi Noodles?
Pav Bhaji Maggi Noodles are my take on the traditional Maggi Noodles, but made with minimal ingredients ramen noodles and pav bhaji masala. These noodles taste very similar to Maggi noodles, perhaps even better. One thing is for sure though, you won’t be left feeling lethargic and sluggish after indulging in these noodles because they’re made with simple and real ingredients.
Do these noodles taste like the original Maggi Noodles?
Although the masala is a little different, these noodles do taste quite similar to the original Maggi Noodles. The Pav Bhaji Maggi Noodles may even taste better if you ask me.
Can I make this recipe vegan, gluten-free?
Yes. For a vegan option, use vegan butter instead of regular butter, or you may simply just use oil and omit butter. For a gluten-free option, just replace the noodles with these brown rice noodles – they’re delicious.
What kind of Ramen Noodles should I use?
Traditional Maggi Noodles are not made with the best ingredients, so for a healthier alternative, use Ocean’s Halo 3-ingredient Ramen Noodles. You can find this brand at Whole Foods or Walmart. They’re organic and so delicious. You will not be able to tell the difference between traditional Maggi Masala Noodles and these 3-ingredient ramen noodles.
What brand of Pav Bhaji Masala should I use?
You can easily find Pav Bhaji Masala t your local Indian grocery store. I can reassure you most of the brands at the Indian store are all amazing, I personally love Roopak’s Pav Bhaji Masala, Everest Pav Bhaji Masala, and Badshah Pav Bhaji Masala. You can’t go wrong with any of these.
What other veggies can I add to these Maggi Noodles?
For this recipe, I used green bell pepper, peas, and corn – a little pav bhaji inspiration here. You may also use carrots, green beans, frozen mixed veggies, red bell pepper, edamame, or anything that has a bite.

Chop the ingredients. Prepare the masala. Add the water and noodles and cook. Garnish and enjoy!
Ingredients you’ll need for Pav Bhaji Maggi Noodles:
Ramen Noodles: For this recipe, I used 3-ingredient Ramen Noodles – they’re organic and delicious. Basic Flavors: Ginger, Garlic, Red Onion. Tomato Paste: I love using tomato paste for a more concentrated flavor, it also adds a lovely color. Veggies: Green Bell Pepper, Peas, Corn. When using frozen peas and corn, make sure you run them under warm water for a minute and drain them. Spices: Red Chili Powder, Turmeric Powder, Pav Bhaji Masala. Oil: Any flavorless oil works, I used Avocado Oil. Water: You’ll need water to cook the noodles.

How to make Pav Bhaji Maggi Noodles recipe step by step?
Prep
- Chop the ginger, garlic, red onions, and green bell peppers. Set aside frozen peas and corn – rinse under warm water and drain.
Cook
- Heat up a castiron dutch oven on medium heat, once hot, add 1/2 tbsp oil and 1 tbsp butter. Once the butter melts… 2. Add the ginger and garlic. Saute for a minute. 3. Now add the red onion. Cook for a couple of minutes until slightly golden and translucent. 4. Add green bell pepper and cook down for 3 minutes until soft and slightly brown.
- Add tomato paste. Saute for a minute. 6. Now add the drained corn and peas. Stir all the ingredients and cook for a minute. 7. Add all the spices – red chili powder, turmeric powder, and pav bhaji masala. Also, add 1/4 cup of water – this will prevent the spices from burning. Scrape all the brown bits at the bottom of the pan. Cook for a minute.
- Add 2 cups of water along with 1/2 tsp of salt. Stir all the ingredients. Let the water warm up for a couple of minutes. 9. In the meantime, open up your ramen noodle packets – I used my 3-ingredient ramen noodles. Stir well. 10. Cover and cook the ramen for about 6-8 minutes. The noodles should be soft and edible and that’s how you’ll know they’re done. 11. Noodles are now done. Adjust salt and spice if needed.
Garnish
- Add 1/2 a tablespoon of butter. Stir. 2. Add cilantro and squeeze fresh lemon juice to taste. 3. Toss. At this time you may add 1/4 to 1/2 cup of water for a runnier consistency. I opted for 1/4 cup of water because I like my noodles slightly runny, but for a soupier consistency, add 1/2 cup of water. 4. Garnish with red onions – this is optional.
