I have such vivid and fond memories of my mom making creamy fruit salad as a kid. We had a mango tree in front of our home in Nigeria, hence mango was always added to my mom’s fruit cream recipe. Once the fruit cream salad was made, it was refrigerated. Naturally, I had zero self-control and would pick out my favorite fruits and all the cream while no one was watching. And yes, I had access to the fridge at the age of 6 or 7, provided no one was watching me. I was a rebel. Lol. When she realized a good portion of the fruit cream was gone, she first yelled at me and then added more milk, cream, and fruits. This is one of the easiest desserts you can make with simple ingredients. Hope you give it a try for your next special occasion. 2. Use an electric mixer and whip the heavy cream. (Image 2) 3. After a couple of minutes bubbles will start to form. (Image 3) 4. Beat the heavy cream for another 2-3 minutes until stiff peaks form. (Image 4) 6. Add sliced grapes. (Image 6) 7. Next, chopped mango. Again, ensure the mango is ripe and sweet, but shouldn’t be soft and mushy. (Image 7) 8. Lastly, add sliced strawberries and blueberries. (Image 8) 10. For a runny consistency, slowly add milk to your desired consistency. I added 1 cup of whole milk. (Image 10) 12. Enjoy this delicious dessert cold. Feel free to garnish with nuts such as sliced almonds or chopped pistachios. (Image 12) ✓ Fruits to Use – Add sweet fresh fruits. Ensure the banana is ready to eat, it shouldn’t be unripe or too ripe. The mangoes should be sweet, but not overly ripe. For mangoes, I recommend using Alphonso, Kesar, or Red Mangoes – my faves. Ensure the grapes, strawberries, and blueberries are ripe, but not soft. ✓ Fruits to Avoid – Avoid watermelon, raspberries, blackberries, and kiwi. In general, avoid fruits that are watery, mushy, tart, or dark in color. Additionally, avoid canned fruits as they tend to be super sweet. ✓ Serving Suggestion – Serve fruit cream in small trifle cups, martini glasses, small wine glasses, or champagne glasses. Feel free to use glass or plastic. I used these glass trifle cups.
